Southern Tanzania Lodge Safari

Day 1: (4.5 hours drive)
Pick the clients from Dar-es-Salaam, proceed to Selous Game Reserve with packed lunch. This is a 4.5 hour drive, where you will drive through a tarmac road for the first 150 kms.

After that you will come to a small village called Kibiti where you make a right and that’s where real Africa starts, this is a rough road and stretches for 92kms to Selous Riverside Safari camp, 8kms more to the gate of the largest reserve in Africa.

You will arrive for lunch where hot lunch will be provided, later in the afternoon you will go for your boat safari which will take 2 hours and this will allow you to get very close to crocodiles and hippos and give you a chance to snap breath taking pictures.

You will get back to camp late evening for dinner and overnight at Selous Riverside Safari Camp.

Accommodation: Selous Riverside Safari Camp.
Meals: Packed Lunch and Dinner.

Day 2:
After a hearty breakfast, you will depart for your full day game drive with a packed lunch. Today you will get to see a variety of game, including the African hunting dog, drive through different terrain, bush, savannah and miombo woodland.

Day 3: ( 6.5 hours drive)
After Breakfast, proceed for Mikumi National Park, you will have to drive through the Selous game reserve to get to Mikumi.

Mikumi is a small park but none the less, game is plenty, and the mkata plains provide spectacular viewing. You will stop enroute to Mikumi to have your packed lunch.

You will pass through Mikumi National Park on your way to your accommodation for tonight, Tan Swiss Guest House.

Day 4: (1 hour drive)
After breakfast, proceed to Udzungwa, for a full day trek. The park offers a number of spectacular waterfalls and is a superb venue for hiking, climbing and viewing of rare, endangered and endemic species. It is one of Tanzania’s most outstanding and exiting wilderness areas, with unique wildlife species inhabiting this altitudinal range of forests. The park is known for its high level of biodiversity of plants and animals. Udzungwa Mountains National Park is located in South-central Tanzania, with an area of 1’990 km2 of which 80% lie in Iringa region while the remaining 20% is found in Morogoro region.

The park protects more than 2500 plant species, of which 160 species are used locally as medicinal plants. Udzungwa Mountains National Park is among the top ten most important areas for bird conservation in Africa. The park is an attention-grabber for bird watchers due to its avian wealth as it harbors more than 250 bird species. After your full day trek, return to Mikumi for dinner and overnight at Tan Swiss Guest House.

Day 5
: (4 hours drive)
After breakfast Proceed to Ruaha National Park. This is a 330 kms drive, through escarpments and high hills, once the town of Iringa is passed, then the road turns into an off road adventure, providing stunning landscape views. After reaching the gate, you will have an enroute gamedrive to your lodge.

Accommodation: Ruaha River Lodge.
Meals: Breakfast, packed Lunch and Dinner.

Day 6:
After breakfast proceed for full day game drive with packed lunch. Ruaha has got arguably the best scenery in the southern safari sector as its got rivers, plains and stunning landscapes. Today you will get a chance to see, the greater and lesser kudu, spotted and stripped hyena, African wild dog and large pride of lions. Return to camp late evening, dinner and overnight at Ruaha River Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, packed Lunch and Dinner.

Day 7: (4 hours drive)
After Breakfast, depart for Mikumi, you will arrive Mikumi in the afternoon, where you will enter the park upon arrival and go for an evening game drive, back to your guesthouse for dinner and overnight.

Meals: Breakfast, packed Lunch and Dinner.

Day 8: (4 hours drive)
After a very early breakfast, you will enter Mikumi park and go for your half day game drive, the drive through the open plains, the early morning sun and the giraffes and zebras galloping in the open savannah is sure a sight not to miss,  after lunch, depart for Dar es salaam, during this 4 hour drive, you will see changing scenery, from the Uluguru mountains to the hustle and bustle of Dar-es-Salaam city.
