The lake is mesmerising, the air scented and the living very easy indeed.
The Mahale Mountains are home to one of the largest populations of chimpanzees in Africa.
Each day, you'll be just feet away from them as they go about their daily lives, while they remain entirely indifferent to your presence
Holiday activities include chimp tracking, snorkelling, fishing, swimming and hiking on the many forest trails leading up the 2,500m peaks overlooking the camp. A refreshing swim in the lake is the perfect antidote to a hard day’s chimp tracking, or you can relax on your private veranda with a good book from the library.
With a camp manager who is also a gourmet chef, meal times are something special. Dinner is served either in the spacious mess tent, or on the deck of Greystoke's magnificent 50 foot mahogany dhow.
And for a nightcap? Anyone who still has the energy can head up to the cosy bar hidden on the headland overlooking the lake for a spot of star-gazing - or just to contemplate the glorious isolation!
