Rafting in Uganda
White water rafting at Jinja
The White Nile is where Lake Victoria flows into and creates the longest river in the world and this in turn produces some of the most ferocious and biggest commercially run white water rapids on earth. Thundering between heavily forested islands - the White Nile has up to ten times the volume of the Zambezi, and it was only in 1996 that the international rafting companies dared make their historic first descent. And since this time rafting has taken off as one of the most popular activities with visitors to Uganda.
The water levels at the source of the White Nile are subject to very little seasonal variation which means that the rafting is excellent at any time of year. The constant volume of water guarantees one of the most exciting one-day rafting trips in the world.
A two day option is also available.
One day rafting trips
The one day trip starts a short way outside of Jinja at the Bujagali Falls, your first grade 5, and finishes 18kms later at your last grade 5 Itanda Falls, also known as ‘The Bad Place’. Memories of the legendary rapids 'Total Gunga’, ‘Overtime’ and ‘Silverback' will live long in the memory.
Two day rafting trips
These stick to the same format as the one day trips and then follow on the next with 4 large rapids in the morning, including ‘Nile Special’ and the afternoon is more relaxed.
Prices:
From £105 per person including transfers from Kampala and a hearty lunch for 1 day trip or £200 for a two day trip including transfers and accommodation.
It is also possible to arrange two day rafting trips and kayaking - please email for more information or call 020 7622 5114 and ask to speak to a consultant who has rafted the Nile.
