Uganda safari Lodges

Lodgings in Uganda vary from the basic but clean, cheaper accommodation to the up to the minute eco-lodges, which tend to be on the more expensive side. These more expensive lodges, although on the increase, tend to be in the minority in this part of Africa. The majority of the lodges in Uganda utilize as much local resources as possible, from the timber they are built with to the staff that they employ. The following are some of the lodges we recommend.

Kampala - The Emin Pasha Hotel, is situated in Kampala, the bustling capital city of Uganda and is Kampala's unique boutique hotel.

Bwindi - At the top end of the scale is Gorilla Forest Camp. The place to stay in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest whilst tracking the infamous mountain gorilla. An eco-style lodge which offers massages after a long hard trek in the forest, talks by primatologists and a superb mystical atmosphere. Alternatively, Buhoma Homestead  is a small, mid range property situated less than five minutes walk away from the National Park offices.

KIdepo Valley - Apoka Lodge. Possibly the most remote lodge in the whole of Africa set in beautiful, almost unchartered surroundings, this is the ultimate getaway.

Queen Elizabeth National Park - Mweya Safari Lodge is located high up on a peninsula with spectacular views over The Kazinga Channel.  Ishasha Wilderness Camp

can be used as a great bush alternative or as a combination with Mweya as they are in very different areas of the park.

Kibale Forest  - Ndali Lodge is set stunningly amidst the Bunyaruguru crater lake region of Western Uganda, an ideal location for Chimp Tracking.

Murchison Falls  - Paraa Safari Lodge offers a unique blend of comfort, relaxation and adventure, set in a small area of landscaped gardens the lodge has a peaceful and romantic ambience and stunning views.

Semliki  Valley Wildlife Reserve - Built out of local materials, Semliki Safari Lodge has a rustic feeling of a traditional tented safari lodge. Guests stay in large canvas tents with permanent thatched roofs.

Mihingo Lodge is a peaceful and luxurious retreat adjacent to Lake Mburo National Park. Situated on over 200 privately owned acres, it features ten rooms which are built on wooden platforms and stilts, covered by a thatched roof. Suspended under the thatched roof is a spacious and comfortable tent equipped with en-suite bathrooms, including hot and cold running water, showers, and flush toilets.
