The lodge is of a good standard, and with its 10 cosy rondavels, it is the perfect base for a visit to Ugandas flagship national park. Jacana Lodge also has an unusual pontoon floating in the lake where guests can enjoy sundowners or romantic meals under the stars.

There are ten free standing luxury chalets, and a family cottage that has two rooms joined together. The rooms are tastefully furnished and spacious with en-suite bathrooms, and each has an enclosed veranda with large panoramic windows offering picture-perfect views of the stunning crater lake. Sundowners and or even “Sunrisers” (complete with an early morning tea) offer incredible views over the lake.

Queen Elizabeth National Park and the surrounding areas are dotted with many crater lakes. Lake Nyamusingire, on which Jacana Safari Lodge is located, is made up of five breached craters that form Uganda’s largest crater lake. Activities include kayaking (guides are available, or you can explore the lake yourself), boat cruises on the nearby Kazinga Channel, nature walks in the Maramagambo forest which is full of interesting bird and primate species, and wildlife viewing in and around the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

And last but not least, Jacana Safari Lodge is at the moment the best situated lodge for chimp tracking in famous Kyambura Gorge – that is home to a group of habituated champanzees.
