Katara Lodge is a midrange property located on the Kichwamba escarpment, overlooking Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Lodge is only a short drive (15km) from the main entrance of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Katara is the perfect base for activities like  game drives through the Queen Elizabeth National Park, boat cruises on the Kazinga channel, chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge and forest walks in Kalinzu Forest Reserve and Maramagambo Forest.

Katara Lodge has five thatched en-suite cottages build from local materials each with a private verandah with an uninterrupted view of the park stretching out below. The bathrooms are fitted with a roll top bath or a shower with hot and cold water.

The water is heated using solar thermal energy. The more adventurous can spend the night under the African sky on a four poster star bed.

The main bar and dining area is a large thatched structure, completely open to the western side providing a beautiful view of the plains down below, with the Rwenzori Mountains a stunning backdrop on a clear day.

While you are staying at Katara Lodge, there are a number of activities on offer including game drives through the Queen Elizabeth National Park, a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge and forest walks in Kalinzu Forest Reserve and Maramagambo Forest as well as an interpretive village walk.
