At Kafunta each of the luxury chalets and the main lounge / dining area overlooks a game rich flood plain that is home to a constantly moving flow of wildlife coming and going to a waterhole directly in front of camp, beyond the plain is the Luangwa River and one of the best game viewing areas of the magical South Luangwa National Park.

There are just eight private safari chalets each built on raised wooden platforms and have thatched roofs, tastefully decorated with African style and charm. All have been refurbished at the end of 2010 to a high standard.

Additionally there are two new luxury suites which also feature an upstairs viewing verandah and a luxurious bathroom with double sinks, two showers and a free-standing bath.

The lodge has a central dining area & bar, a swimming pool and the only natural hot spring tub in the Luangwa Valley. This unique hot tub is fed from a source on Kafunta’s grounds, offering a constant temperature of 38 degrees.

Here you can enjoy pure relaxation while at the same being presented with magnificent views over the flood plains and the Luangwa River.

Activities available at Kafunta include game drives, night drives, walking safaris, birding and cultural visits.

Kafunta Safaris also operate the seasonal Island Bush Camp. This is a small, personalised camp, located in a remote area in the very South of the National Park and a great place to explore the unspoilt wilderness on foot.

The qualified and experienced local guides accompany you throughout the safari (game drives are also available from Island Bush Camp).

The Island Bush Camp offers rustic accommodation in grass/reed huts built on stilts that ensure safety from wild animals and provide an unlimited view of the Luangwa River. The 5 chalets are equipped with the modern comforts of hot showers and running water.
