The country is also home to the breathtaking Victoria Falls which it shares with its neighbour Zimbabwe and a wide range of adventure activities are available including white water rafting, bungee jumping and abseiling.

Zambia lies landlocked at the heart of Africa and is blessed with some of the most remote and unspoilt wildlife areas in Africa. Its main safari areas offer exceptional game viewing – and have a well established network of small safari lodges and bush camps (most of which are owner run) that offer an authentic ‘bush’ experience.

Diverse landscapes include the Luangwa valley where sightings of the big cats are among the best in Africa, the fertile valley ecosystem around the Lower Zambezi National Park and of course the mighty Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world.

A wide range of activities are available including canoeing, white water rafting and lunching on Livingstone Island half way across the falls.

Flights
British Airways flies three times a week direct to the capital Lusaka. From here regular connections to Victoria Falls or the safari areas take about an hour. Alternatively there are daily flights to Victoria Falls or Lusaka, via Johannesburg.

This is usually the best option if you are combining Zambia with another Southern Africa destination.

Best Time To Go
On safari is the dry season from May to October. The green season from November to April is hot and humid and the bush is very green.

For Victoria Falls, the water levels are highest and most impressive in the first half of the year, but lower water levels in the second half of the year are better for activities like white water rafting.
