World Cup
James is the South Africa Product Manager. As well as having lived, travelled and worked in South Africa - he has been sending people on holidays to South Africa for over five years. He has a number of tips for the South Africa World Cup including:
Book your World Cup safari NOW
Safari & football in one day
Football in style
Book your World Cup safari add-on now

James says “You would be crazy to visit South Africa and not go on safari. It’s hard to beat the thrill of your first sighting of a pride of lions – perhaps beaten only by the thrill of England winning the World Cup!”
Availability is still good for safaris before and after the World Cup. However, once the final draw takes place on 4 December and people know which cities their teams are playing in, availability will be extremely limited. Imagine Africa suggest that you book a safari add-on now to ensure a spot in the better safari lodges. This can be booked now regardless of where you’ll be during the games.
We recommend:
Garonga - From £815pp for a 5 night safari (FB including transfers to/from Kruger airport)
Chitwa Chitwa - From £527pppn all inclusive.

Safari & football in one

James says: “One of our favourite safari lodges is actually within driving distance of Durban allowing for the most luxurious option of a safari in the morning and World Cup football in the afternoon”.
Thanda Private Game Reserve offers an amazing wildlife experience in the heart of Zululand near the Indian Ocean coast. The lodge offers five star luxury with daily game drives, delicious cuisine and an award-winning wellness centre. Imagine Africa think this is the ideal destination for football fans travelling with family who may not be as interested in the World Cup. It allows non-football goers to experience the luxury of the lodge while Thanda is offering football fans transfers to and from the lodge to see any matches.
From £1,394pp for 3 nights (FB including transfers to and from Durban for football matches and flights)

World Cup football in style

James says: “Stay in a boutique hotel rather than the larger less distinctive hotels. You get a much more personal service and experience true African style at its best.”
It is only when you know a place that you can find the perfect boutique hotel. Imagine Africa have managed to reserve rooms at their favourites for the World Cup.
In Cape Town we recommend Kensington Place a luxury boutique hotel, Four Rosmead an exclusive guesthouse on the slopes of Table Mountain or Urban Chic a lovely hotel in the heart of the city. From £205pppn, £150pppn or £128pppn respectively (B&B).
Please note there is a minimum stay of four nights over the World Cup.
In Durban we recommend Globe Palms Guest House from £118 per person per night with breakfast
In Johannesburg we recommend Fairview on 14th from £540 per night for a 2 Bedroom Apartment (sleeping 4 adults) with breakfast
